for Ohio History Center & Ohio Statehouse, Columbus
Motor Coach Tour
We have a lovely day planned with travel by motor coach to our capital city, provided by All-Ways Trans Plus, inc. of Ashland.
8:00 a.m. – Meet at the parking area at the east end of Wayne County Fairgrounds (just off Vanover Street, across from Wayne County Administration Bluilding) where we’ll be seated on the bus.
10:00 a.m. – Arrive at Ohio History Center for a self-guided tour, with a special exhibit of “The American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute from the Civil War to Iraq”. This exhibit captures the danger and the frustration, the humor and the beauty, the camaraderie, the death and the victory that the American soldier has encountered throughout history. The Center also includes natural history, general history, Native American and archaeology exhibits.
11:30 a.m. – Box lunches will be provided at the History Center for us, including a sandwich wrap, salad, beverage and dessert (included in your reservation fee).
2:00 p.m. – Tour the beautifully-restored Ohio Statehouse (back to its 1860s glamour). The building is a working state government office building that is a magnificent monument to the people and the period when Ohio’s democracy was founded and formed. Enjoy interactive exhibits and the lovely gift shop. The Statehouse is handicap accessible and senior friendly.
4:00 p.m. – Depart for Wooster. Hopefully, arrive home by 6:0 p.m.0 after a wonderful day of sightseeing and fellowship.
All of this for only $45.00, with lunch included. We’ll need at least thirty people to justify this trip. All profits will benefit the Wayne County Historical Society. Reservations with payment are due by April 6, 2012. For more information, please contact Gerald Payn, trip coordinator, at 330-345-5547.
