East Union Township, 1814 – Named by Simon Chaiffin Sr., who was from Union, Maine

Baughman Township, 1816 – John Baughman, first white settler
Chester Township, 1816 – Prevalence of Chestnut trees
Paint Township, 1816 – From spring that imparted colors to the earth
