Current Displays in 2025 coming down in January 2026 for new displays
2026 is promising to be an active year with GREAT displays. The committees are working together to present “The History of the United States according to Wayne County”
Our Archaeology Department will begin with prehistoric swamps, then The Arrival of Native Americans, and establishing the Northwest Territory.
Our Archive Department will “dig” into establishing Wayne County and who were the settlers of Wayne County. This will lead into the war of 1812 and General Beall and into the growth and shrinkage of Wayne County
Into the Underground Railroad / Abolition we go with records from the Daily Record and our archives (as well as The Wayne County Public Library)
Our Military department will step up with the wars: Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
We move on into the Wayne Industrial Development and communications – “The Mail”
We will showcase the “Inventors Hall of Fame” and into the “Wayne County Sports Hall of Fame”
We will describe the stages of Wayne County Transportation in the Carriage House and then into the stages of Fire engines in our #4 Firehouse with the history of our Wayne County Fire Divisions.
Our Dress Shop is a secret, so you’ll have to come see what the ladies will have for us.
Our General Store and School house will offer their own history and don’t forget the Log Home with its rich history and an example of how we used to live.
All in all, we plan on providing tremendous information into Wayne County’s past, come join us.
In the next newsletters look for the 2026 programs (12 +) throughout our county to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary.
