The Wayne County Civil War Roundtable will present a free program on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wooster branch of the Wayne County Public Library. John Spaziani will offer a first-person portrayal of Col. William C. Oates of the 15th Alabama Infantry, which famously faced off against Col. Joshua L. Chamberlain’s 20th Maine at Little Round Top on the second day of the battle of Gettysburg. After the war, Oates returned to the practice of law, served for 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, and one term as governor of Alabama.
Due to high levels of community spread of Covid-19 in Wayne County, attendance at this event will be limited to 50 to allow seating to be spaced, and face masks and advance registration will be required. To register, call the library at 330.804.4666, or email ref-staff@wcpl.info.
The Wayne County Civil War Roundtable would like to thank its members, the Wayne County Public Library, R.W. Gasbarre & Associates Surveyors, Ed and Penny Gasbarre, and John Spaziani for their sponsorship.
