What do you think of when you hear of Sterling, Ohio? Sterling Farm Equipment or the former Maibach’s Home Furnishings may come to mind. But how about the Sterling Glass Company or Eddie Amstutz’s large leaf tobacco plant?
We have many items and stories to share with you about Sterling’s history. We have a Russell wrench, manufactured in town, items from the tobacco industry, and photos of village businesses that have come and gone, and ones that are going strong today. Did you know the Knights of Pythias fraternal organization (Sterling Lodge #173) was established in 1883 and remains active to this day?
The opening reception for our newest pop-up exhibit, “The Historical Roots of Sterling, Ohio,” will be Saturday, June 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Kister Building. Please join us for light refreshments and the first look at this new exhibit which will be on display until September 10, 2023.
