The mission of the Wayne County Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and interpret artifacts as well as narratives that reflect the cultural heritage of the county. We strive for excellence in our tours, community involvement, and historical interpretation to enhance the education and enjoyment of our community and its future generations.
Accomplishing this mission is no easy task. It cannot be done without the support of our members and the public at large, with the vast majority of our funds coming from private donations. Without the continued support of our dedicated volunteers the majority of what the Wayne County Historical Society has done would not be possible. We greatly appreciate our volunteers and docents who have and will continue to enhance our Society.
When we think of visitor services, we often imagine that it’s all about greeting people at the front desk, but it goes way beyond that. In order to create a positive, welcoming, and enriching environment, visitor service standards should be at the core of our work and integrated into our daily operations. Everything – from our website to our exhibits, and even landscaping – forms part of a visitor’s experience of our site. If you have any questions please feel free to email, call, or ask one of our hardworking docents or members of our society.
We hope you will consider joining the existing WCHS members from Wayne County and beyond who realize the importance of preserving our historical treasures.
