The Wayne County Civil War Roundtable will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the schoolhouse on the campus of the Wayne County Historical Society, 546 E. Bowman St., in Wooster. Parking is available in the historical society’s lot, off Spink St. Wooster historian and author Harry S. McClarran will speak as his great-grandfather, Harrison O. McClarran, who served in the War of the Rebellion and returned home to run run a grocery store in Wooster. McClarran will offer observations on the war, his political experiences, and the growth and development of downtown Wooster. The event is free and open to the public.
Harry McClarran is a lifelong resident of Wooster and member of the Wayne County Historical Society. He is the author of two profusely illustrated books: A Glimpse from the Front Porch and A Bridge to the Past, and A Tribute to Wooster: Guarding Its Past, Present and Future. He is currently concluding a 10-year study of the Wooster Fire Department.
